licensed

OMG! Am I reading this right?

Did Funimation actually announce that they licensed Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei, and Texhnolyze? Yeah, I already have these from the now defunct Geneon USA, but it's really good to know that these ABe series are being revived! Funimation also announced that they picked up other shows that might interest people like Black Lagoon Season 3, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, Toaru Majutsu no Index, and Hellsing1.

Now if only someone rescues Someday's Dreamers and picks up the second season, Someday's Dreamers: Summer Skies.

  1. 1. I'm personally interested in picking up the first three of these

Mahou Shoujo Tai Alice - Licensed?

Big thanks to Steven for the heads up!

By the looks of it, Media Blasters has acquired Mahou Shoujo Tai! This series is also called Tweeny Witches1, which will most likely be the official title as released in the U.S.

  1. 1. This looked to be an alternate title from the start, since the official site for the series was http://www.tweeny-witches.com/

Byousoku 5 Centimeter - Licensed!

I just got word from the Anime News Network that, as I expected would happen at some point, ADV has confirmed the licensing of Makoto Shinkai's Byousoku 5 Centimeter!

I had several reactions to the news:

  1. Yay! The movie will be released in the U.S.! And probably with a good English dub too, given ADV's excellent work with dubbing Shinkai's previous movies.
  2. No! I won't be able to justify downloading the fansubs that will inevitably come out when the movie is finally released on DVD in Japan on July 19th!
  3. Yay! I'll be able to watch the entirety of the (expected to be) gorgeous movie in full DVD quality!

I can't wait!
