This would normally be in my other blog, but since this pertains to a part of Japan, I guess it's ok to put here, and the images are just too cool not to show.

The picture shows off Juhyo (monster trees) that forms on Mount Zaō on Honshū, where cold Siberian winds meet warm and moist Pacific air to create record snowfalls in the middle of winter. You can read more about these "Japanese Monster Trees" and see more pictures of them from David Webber.
