Help I'm addicted to an anime about shogi! Actually, what I am addicted to in Shion no Oh isn't really the game itself, but the characters and the atmosphere of the series itself. In fact, I have little interest in the moves being put forth during the games, but the mystery surrounding the murders of Shion's parents and Shion herself are what really drew me into the series and just won't let me go. The coming of age and "underdog" aspect of the series are nice, but as of episode 14, Shion and the people who come to protect her are the heart of Shion no Oh.

That is not to say that this series is also very well presented1, and the intensity of the matches really does translate through. The thought processes of the characters and the machinations surrounding the events that occurs through out the series also shine.
